Food

Building community, one meal at a time

Every year, we provide more than 140,000 free food and drink items to people affected by homelessness and poverty across the UK. Our coffee shops are welcoming spaces where people can come in from the cold, are treated with dignity, and can connect with support.

In places where we don’t have a coffee shop, we also partner with grass-roots organisations to provide free food and support for people who are vulnerable or experiencing homelessness in local communities all across the UK

During the pandemic, we rapidly reworked our entire operation. We delivered around 6,000 emergency food packs daily at the height of lockdown, ensuring people in precarious housing situations weren’t left behind.

Homes

Creating places to thrive, not just survive

Over 1,000 people have moved into safe and stable homes through our accommodation projects and partnerships. At the Social Bite Village in Edinburgh, we’ve shown how small, supportive communities can help people with complex needs rebuild their lives. 2026 brings a new Village in South Lanarkshire, and next on the roadmap is a dedicated Recovery Village for people struggling with addiction in Dundee.

We’re proving that this approach works, and sharing it as a blueprint so other cities, charities and governments can create similar, people‑centred solutions.

Jobs

Breaking the cycle through lasting employment

Through our Jobs First programme, more than 120 people with lived experience of homelessness have been supported into meaningful employment with supportive employers.

An independent evaluation found that for every £1 invested, Jobs First generates around £3 in social value and returns £0.71 to the public purse, through better health, higher earnings and reduced pressure on services, equating to almost £53,000 of economic benefit per person employed.

Employers tell us they gain motivated staff, stronger teams and a deeper sense of purpose, while participants build confidence, gain qualifications, and can plan for the future again.

Powered by people like you

Tens of thousands of people have joined the movement to end homelessness, turning one night, one challenge, or one small act into practical support that changes lives.

Over 18,000 people took part in our Sleep in the Park events, raising almost £8 million for vital projects like our villages.

Wee Sleep Out brought together thousands of young people. It raised more than £100,000 and spread awareness about homelessness with the next generation.

Over 60,000 people in 52 cities took part in The World’s Big Sleep Out, an initiative created by Social Bite founder Josh Littlejohn MBE  raising millions for charities tackling homelessness and displacement worldwide, and shining a spotlight on the issue at a global scale.

Break the Cycle and the 100 Mile Challenge have involved thousands of participants, helping fund new Social Bite Villages and support for people experiencing homelessness.

Every year, communities, schools and individuals take on their own challenges for Social Bite, from marathons and sponsored walks to bake sales and quiz nights, as well as contributing to our annual Christmas gift drive as part of our Festival of Kindness. And every week, people offer their time and kindness to help run free food services at our coffee shops, becoming friendly, familiar faces our guests can trust.

Also invaluable in the movement to end homelessness are the businesses that volunteer their time, resources and expertise — from pro bono legal support to donating meeting space and skilled staff time. Alongside them are companies that choose us as their Charity of the Year, and many other corporate partners who support our work.
