A new homes model for ending homelessness

When people have a safe, warm place to call home, the future starts looking brighter.
We’re pioneering a new model of supported, community-led living for people experiencing homelessness, as an alternative to temporary accommodation.
These are thoughtfully-designed spaces where people can feel truly at home, with staff and volunteers on-site round-the-clock, and a programme of activities focussed on life skills, preparing for employment, and setting individuals up to sustain their own permanent tenancies.
A huge step towards independence
A Social Bite Village is a beautiful, innovative, highly-supported community, run in partnership with a local charity or delivery partner. Set in attractive landscaping, each village is made up of around 15 modern, sustainable homes, along with a vibrant hub for communal activities — all readying people for a thriving future.
This is an exciting new blueprint that local authorities and organisations across the UK can adopt, and we’re engaging policymakers and local authorities with the model to make that happen.

Making “rapid rehousing” the norm in Scotland
In 2018, we introduced and scaled the transformative Housing First approach across Scotland, proving that giving people a permanent home first, then providing wraparound support, could break the cycle of homelessness for good.
Our Housing First Pathfinder turned theory into reality, giving 830 vulnerable people the opportunity to maintain stable tenancies and demonstrating this compassionate model could save money and transform lives.
Today, Housing First is the default approach across Scotland, showing how one bold idea can reshape an entire system. Now, we're ready to help replicate this success across the UK.
